Getting started with Sevens

Read the position before choosing your next action. Play every card to four suit sequences that expand outward from their sevens. Try the rule on the board, then read the next instruction. A standard deck is dealt to four players, thirteen cards each. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.

Four-player free Sevens with three local computer opponents. This table uses the seven-of-diamonds opening and low Aces.

Try a more deliberate round

Use the controls beside the game rather than guessing the rules. Extend the low end or high end of an open suit by one rank. Aces are low below twos; kings are the high end. Try the rule on the board, then read the next instruction.

What you need to achieve

Begin with the basic rule, then follow the result of your action. Play every card to four suit sequences that expand outward from their sevens. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.

The order of play

  1. A standard deck is dealt to four players, thirteen cards each.
  2. The holder of 7♦ must play it first. Other suits can open with their own seven.
  3. Extend the low end or high end of an open suit by one rank. Aces are low below twos; kings are the high end.
  4. Play a legal card whenever possible. Passing is allowed only when no card fits.
  5. The first player with an empty hand wins the round.

The controls to know

Take a moment to check the current turn. Tap an enabled card from your hand. The suit rows show cards already played. Use Pass only when it is enabled. Try the rule on the board, then read the next instruction.

Work through an example

The example and rules describe the same game you can play above. After 7♥ is opened, 6♥ or 8♥ can be played. 5♥ must wait until 6♥ is on the table. Start a new round when you are ready to try again.

A mistake to avoid

Check the rule below as you play. A matching rank in another suit does not extend an existing row. Every suit has its own sequence. Start a new round when you are ready to try again.
